WOW

So I realize its been a while since I have been on this, so I decided that I am going to post something to update you all. I have started my 2nd year at Iowa State and have had so much success.

I participated in my first Tae Kwon Do tournament and and am now a Green belt in TKD. I am still and Ag. Eds. major and I am going to stick with that well because its fun! I am having some issues with my sister who I shall not name, and feel that she needs to get her priorities straighten out. There is this guy (who will remain un-named for the sake of privacy) who I have become really good friends with and hope leads to a relationship. My new group of friends I hang out with on weekends are a bunch of engineers (strange huh). I am still good friends with all my Ag. Eds. people and we still try to do things together also.

So thats my life so far in a nut shell hope you enjoyed it!

Why it is good to get to know your professors

As freshman in college we have a hard time just to understand a class. Well there is a simple solution to that. All you have to do is talk to your professors and get to know them. Getting to know your professors helps give you a little bit of an advantage in a class you are having a hard time in.

It really is a good thing to know your professors cause I talk to my professors in the classes that I am struggling in. It really helps cause if I do bad on a quiz or an exam, that professor has the power to give some more points for me. I have talked to my agronomy professor and he understands how much I study for his quizzes and exams.

Meeting with my agronomy professor also allows me to use him as a reference for my resume, and also he can help me with other agronomy classes. He can help me with other agronomy classes even though he doesn't teach that class. Even though he doesn't teach the class he knows agronomy and would be able to help me a little bit.

Dance Marathon

Every year Iowa State University holds an event called Club Fest. I visited club fest to see what clubs and organizations are out there for me to join. I found many clubs that I would love to try, but I have 4 years here to try them all. The one club that I am most interested in and participating in is Dance Marathon.

Dance Marathon is an organization that raises money for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City through the Children's Miracle Network. It is a fun organization that goes to a good cause. On January 23, 2010 will be the big Dance Event. We invite the kids and their families that we are funding for and we have a big 15 hour event where we do activities with them. Since I am new to this I am looking forward to the big event.

Each dancer who joins Dance Marathon has to raise a minimum of $200. If you would like to find out more about Dance Marathon, donate, or join you may visit the home page at, http://www.dm.stuorg.iastate.edu/joomla/, or my page at, http://www.kidsmiracles.org/Page.aspx?pid=1284&frsid=26398. The money helps out kids who have to stay in the hospital for a long period of time feel better and happier. The money also helps the families of these kids be able to stay in the rooms with them by simply having a couch to sleep on. The money provides the hospital to buy the couch for the room and allow families to be together.

I am happy to be part of an organization that puts an impact on some ones life. I know that any money I raise will be helpful and I know I am helping some kid feel better. If you want to have the same feeling I do, then visit the Dance Marathon website and become a dancer.

Doing The Best

Have you ever had a time in your life where something didn't go very well, but you know you tried your best. We all have had one and I know that I have had quite a few. Though there are many experiences that I have I am only going to tell you of one.

One time while at band camp I was trying to help the younger drummers in the drumline understand their music. I had tried so many tricks in the book. As I kept helping them they seemed more confused. So what I did to try and help them, was that I took the drumsticks and played the beat slowly hoping that would help them.

While this is all going on the band instuctor is helping other students in the band. I kept working with the students and most of them were getting the hang of it, but there was one who still seemed confused. As I kept trying to work with him he seemed more and more confused. That is when I relized the student was trying to follow along with the music when he couldn't read music at all. When I tried to have him follow me by ear he was still having trouble. When the band instructor came by she relized, without asking, what my problem was, she told me to go back to my drum and work on it.

After doing all that work I felt like I failed at helping. I knew I did my best, but when I don't finish a job that I started I feel like it was a failure. Even though I felt really bad about not finishing my job, I knew I tried my best and that I just needed to teach myself how to work with more people like that. This way when this occurence happens again I will be prepaired to finish the job.

ISU Club Fest

There are always the college students who are looking for something to do so they can have some free time from studying and meet new people. Well the solution to that is joining a club. Did you know that Iowa State has 500+ clubs and is still expanding. Well I went to this club fest that Iowa State has and saw some interesting clubs. There was a club for everything. There was running club, German Club, Guitar Club, Anime Club, Japanese Sword Fighting club, ect. If there is some thing that you believe or like there is a club for it. Many of the clubs I looked at are ether something I want to try like the Japanese Sword Fighting Club, or something I enjoy doing so I looked at the Drum Set Club. I looked at so many clubs that I am going to have to see what they are all about before I decide to join.

I survived

I can't belive it! I went to college and survived the first week of classes. Granted I had to drop one of my courses, but I knew I wasn't going to pass the class after a week and already falling behind. The college experience is going to be fun and hard the whole way. Don't forget to have some of your own time, otherwise all that studying is going to make you crazy. I have already started my adventure at Iowa State and I wonder where it will end???? I guess my choices will determine that.
